The job

Install new equipment inside delivery stations that never stop running: conveyors, stow systems, storage and carts, with many vendors on site and launch dates that can't move.

What I did

• Field engineering lead from mobilization to go-live: automated divert-to-aisle conveyors, scan-less stow systems, drop-shelf storage and ergonomic pick carts.
• Led shift burn-in on all 4 go-live nights of a conveyor install, and restored service the same night after a configuration fault.
• Ran a 136-row stow install with 6 vendor and internal teams. Traced a 6-week controller failure to a partially seated patch cable.
• Recovered a 2-day stop-work on a 1,071-shelf retrofit with parallel crews, and finished a day early.
• Led the project that automated a weekly error-rate report for 15 North American sites.
• Built an AI work system for planning and reporting, now used by 7 teammates.

Scaling production for electrochromic glass

The job

Scale anode, cathode and auxiliary production systems from development to a working glass plant, including nanoparticle and high-viscosity material handling.

What I did

• Designed and implemented an automated batch production system for anode materials.
• Redesigned material handling and the process around it.
• Led development of a solvent rectification system.
• Designed and implemented a fluidized bed filtering system that removed contaminants.
• Designed oxygen monitoring for the solvent tanks (constant 2.8% O₂) and built an instrumented test bench for R&D.

The job

Custom equipment for food plants: conveyors, fryers, burners, heat exchangers, filters, tanks and controls, each designed, built, installed and commissioned for one customer.

What I did

• The customer's main technical contact, coordinating design, manufacturing, purchasing and field service.
• Led teams of up to 5 design engineers through design, installation and commissioning.
• Sized pumps, valves, burners, heat exchangers and process oil vessels; produced layouts, P&IDs, PFDs and risk assessments.
• Rewrote department SOPs and rolled out KPI dashboards for leadership.

• Designed the rotary kiln incinerator in SolidWorks: drum, rolling system, secondary chamber and labyrinth seal.
• Designed the lab facilities and the plasma-torch tests.
• Wrote the company's SOPs.

2011 – 2012 · Linhares, Brazil

CFB biomass gasification power plant

The job

Take a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) biomass gasification plant through scale-up, construction, commissioning and operation.

What I did

• Oversaw scale-up, construction and commissioning of the 50 ft × 6 ft CFB reactor.
• Designed the L-valve that removes ash while the plant runs.
• Designed the biomass dryer, pneumatic conveying, flow meters, pre-heating and flare systems; led the EPC of the balance of plant.
